We began raising hair sheep to control the Yellow Star Thistle in our horse pastures. They excel at this. The sheep are easy on fences and land, keeping pastures neatly trimmed and weed free. A few years ago we decided to try some of the lamb, it is easily the sweetest, mildest lamb we’ve had. Because of the lack of wool these sheep have less lanolin and the meat is milder for it. The cuts are smaller than traditional lamb. Over the years our flock has become more colorfull and with smoother coats. Our ewes regularly have twins and triplets. Our breeding rams are chosen for coat, structure and quality horns.
